The Minister of Central Commerce and Sales Support is a unique role that oversees both the territory sales of the Central Commerce Region (Southern IL., Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri) and spearheads inside selling responsibilities for the broader Commerce TEAm.  The Central Commerce role is responsible for managing one broker group who works directly with the leading retailers carrying The Republic of Tea's product lines.  This role will also manage the retailer relationship, and look for opportunities to develop new relationships within the territory. Internally to the organization, this position aids in critical sales support by identifying distribution voids and sales opportunities for key promotions within the existing customer base, aiding to grow sales by closing these sales gaps.  On predetermined office hours, the Internal Sales Support role will also serve as a liaison to the Commerce TEAm for all Citizen Services related issues.  The ideal candidate would reside in the St. Louis metro area, allowing for travel within the territory by car or via Lambert Airport, in addition to commuting to Nashville, IL on internal sales days.


New Business Development:

  • Conduct calls on natural and specialty retailers
  • Develop sales proposals for customers
  • Build and deliver effective presentations to sales reps/brokers/customers

 Sales Management:

  • Manage and oversee a network of independent sales reps/brokers
  • Train account staff and broker reps on category and products
  • Develop sales strategies and new-item initiatives for accounts
  • Establish and maintain working relationship with customers
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, annual reviews with brokers and maintain complete documentation
  • Work with broker principals and reps in market place

 Inside Sales:

  • Target specific accounts for sales voids and works in unison with Regional Commerce Ministers to close voids
  • Makes inside sales calls to wholesale accounts on new skus or promotional items
  • Screens sales leads gathered from various trade shows before distributing to Commerce TEAm
  • Assist Regional Commerce Ministers with administrative items while in office, including new account set-up, credit applications, sales presentations and other administrative needs


  • Provides a weekly report to management on accomplishments
  • Evaluate product marketability in terms of customer needs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the products and industry trends.
  • Achieve company revenue goals and strategic initiatives
  • Work within T&E and promotional budget guidelines
  • Works remotely, and requires frequent business travel


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • A minimum of two years of experience in gourmet, natural or specialty food sales
  • A minimum of two years inside sales experience or customer service experience
  • A passion for tea and herbs!


  • Tea retailing experience or natural and specialty retailers experience strongly preferred
  • Prior broker management experience
  • A proven track record of sales achievement in an upscale industry


  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with demonstrated mastery of using PowerPoint to create effective sales presentations
  • Trained to be proficient on Sage X3 ERP system
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Up to 60% Travel, some overnight
  • 2-3 days in Nashville, IL office
