POSITION SUMMARY:

The Republic of Tea is looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk, specializing in accounts receivable (AR) to provide financial, clerical, and analytical services. This position will work hand in hand with the Accounting and Finance TEAm.

Candidates are being considered from either the Nashville, IL area or St. Louis, MO area. The Republic of Tea has offices in both locations and this role is positioned to work at either site.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply and reconcile payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures; produce daily cash report.
  • Analyze, investigate, and close payment discrepancies such as short pays, duplicate and over payments, unmatched credit card payments and small balance error transactions.
  • Identify and pursue resolution to customer trends that may result in unauthorized invoice deductions.
  • Communicate with customers and internal partners to obtain proper documentation and approval necessary to accept or dispute customer deductions.
  • Effectively identify and resolve customer issues preventing timely payment, which may include research within multiple systems/tools, examining historical data and payment history, collaborating with internal partners, and/or escalating within customer management.
  • Assist with maintaining customer account records, including billing information, account status, etc.
  • Responsible for data entry of manufacturing records, including auditing data for accuracy and reasonableness. Create report on manufacturing efficiencies for managerial review.
  • Verify and post accounts payable transactions. Process payments to suppliers.
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile general ledger transactions.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports.
  • Coordinate with management to create annual budget.
  • Maintain product pricing files and work with customer service and sales team on managing available products.
  • Additional accounting and analytical responsibilities may include but are not limited to, inventory analysis and reporting, price modeling, audit support, and more.
  • Serve as backup to other AR functions.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years accounting experience; accounts receivable preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and extremely accurate data entry skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Aptitude for effective and efficient utilization of computer technologies including MS applications such as Excel, Access, Word and Power Point; ERP solutions - Sage experience a plus.
  • Strong desire to grow and develop.
