Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is focused on two primary objectives that are critical to the company's financial performance: Sales Forecasting and Sales Analysis.  These are closely related activities and require a collaborative working relationship with the remote sales team as well as the Procurement team in our manufacturing facility in Nashville, IL. With proper analysis, this position impacts revenue (increase sales of teas and herbs) while subsequently ensuring we achieve inventory target goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Forecasting

  • Develop and utilize a forecasting model which accurately projects the movement of all SKU's. Adjusting the model to optimize accuracy over time.
  • Account for new items, new distribution, changing order patterns of large accounts, and promotions.
  • Forecasting accuracy target is 96% or greater
  • Procurement team orders from this forecast so deadlines for long lead time and obscure ingredients is essential.

Data Analysis

  • Sources and manages industry data sets'like SPINS. This includes negotiation and management of contracts and costs to obtain critical data sets.
  • Understands and utilizes the internal ERP system and data set to understand tea and herb movement through the supply chain.
  • Utilizes both of these sets of data to analyze selling opportunities and to provide feedback to the Sales Team.
  • Works with each sales manager to analyze data and to prepare compelling Sales presentations to increase shelf presence and sell in new SKU's or tea and herbs. Responsible for creating the presentation deck used during these meetings.  Provide analysis to optimize Planograms and shelf sets.
  • Provides Sales support in the form of training for new tea launches.
  • Instrumental in providing the data to support execution of growth targets.
  • Establish KPIs to track and verify accuracy of production results
  • Work with the sales team to refine monthly demand models to improve accuracy of forecasting
  • Maintain inventory control methods and reports to assure accurate inventory levels

Other Analysis and Support

  • Provide analysis for the SKU discontinuation team to make final decisions on SKU reduction.
  • Support the Marketing team on ad hoc project support from time to time.
  • Work with the Procurement and Commercialization to ensure successful new SKU's or tea and herb launches are available in proper quantities and on time.
  • Perform Rough Cut Capacity modeling and collaborate with Operations and Procurement teams to meet Fill Rate performance targets.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (Minimum Education and Experience Only)

  • Bachelor's Degree with a strong focus on analytical skills.
  • 5+ years' experience in a forecasting and analytics type role.
  • Effective communication and collaborative skills and the ability to work well between multiple functions to gather and coordinate information.
  • Strong business, data analysis and interpretation skills.  Ability to translate data into PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, advanced Excel skills required.
  • Ability to travel between our Nashville, IL and St. Louis, MO offices on a weekly basis.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Experience in natural or specialty brands a plus
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Knowledgeable of industry data sets such as SPINS
  • Ability to learn the company's ERP system and work with large data sets
  • APICS Certification
  • MBA preferred
