Order Builder/Forklift Operator

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for operating a forklift and order picker to pull pallets from the backup locations, build orders to customer requirements, transport, and load them. This work must be completed safely, accurately, productive and with the highest quality.

HOURS: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Moving controls, devices, and levers to safely drive forklifts and order pickers to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas
• Unloading incoming materials from various transportation companies and accurately verifying quantities and recording receipts on log
• Accurately build orders by customer requirements
• Organizing and securing stored materials such as boxes, pallets, etc.
• Loading or unloading materials manually, off or on pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devices
• Working and coordinating with supervisors, managers, and employees regarding unloading and loading operations
• Performing routine pre-inspections and post-inspections to ensure suitable working conditions of forklift and order picker equipment
• Reporting to supervisor regarding any damage to racks, faulty equipment, or any other safety hazards
• Cleaning work area as directed
• Completing forklift operator certification provided by the industry annually
• Performing other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to operate in high speed and fast-paced environment
• Able to follow instructions as directed by the Transportation Clerk, Supervisor, and Manager
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Able to work under pressure
• Ability to operate with a high level of attention to detail
• Must perform work with a sense of urgency
• Use and operate order picker and forklift in safe manner
• Ability to use the ERP System and use Microsoft Applications
• Be able to identify and correct unsafe practices.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma, or equivalent GED
• Certified Forklift Training
• Two years of related experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Manual dexterity
• Able to lift 50 lbs. on own up to 4 or 5 times daily
• Must be able to climb rolling ladder
• Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time, stoop, and bend

• Ability to gain a general knowledge of computers and internal system
